MAUMEE, Ohio – The Andersons, Inc. on April 2 finalized the sale of its grain elevators in Humboldt, Kenton and Dyer, Tennessee, to Local Grain Services, a subsidiary of Tyson Foods Inc. Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

The transaction was first announced in mid-February, at which point Tyson Foods said the grain elevators in Dyer, Humboldt and Kenton, Tennessee, would support the company’s existing facility in Union City, Tennessee, as well as the chicken complex the company is building in Humboldt.

No disruption to existing contracts with area farmers is expected.

Tyson Foods’ Local Grain Services (LGS) was created to provide resources for the farmers who provide grain to feed chickens grown for the company. LGS buys corn, wheat and soybeans directly from local farmers, which in turn promotes local economies and is part of the company’s strategy to sustainably feed the world.

Following the sale of the three grain elevators The Andersons said it is evaluating options for three other facilities, located in Trenton, Como and Union City, Tennessee.
