Jennie-O Fajita Turkey Dogs

WILLMAR, Minn. – Jennie-O Turkey Store, a subsidiary of Hormel Foods, introduced an alternative hot dog product on March 15 with uncured turkey breast franks.

The franks are made with premium turkey breast and have 50 percent less fat than beef franks. They include no artificial preservatives, colors or flavors, have no added nitrites or nitrates, and are gluten free. The frank can be served as a Chicago-style hot dog or tucked into a lettuce wrap topped with shredded vegetables and guacamole.

“When it comes to meal time, Americans want it all: their favorite dishes, but with less fat, calories, artificial ingredients or preservatives,” said Brent Koosmann, director of marketing, Jennie-O. “Fortunately, Jennie-O is in a unique position to meet the needs of today’s families and health-conscious consumers. Our uncured turkey franks are a great example of the flavorful, better-for-you foods we’re creating to satisfy and inspire grocery shoppers.”

In addition to the turkey franks, Jennie-O also introduced a new kind of turkey bacon that has some unique added flavors. The blueberry turkey bacon features real blueberries and 60 percent less fat than regular bacon. The company also introduced its jalapeños turkey bacon that’s made with real jalapeños.

Jennie-O expects these products to be rolled out in grocery stores around the country this spring.
