WEST POINT, NEB. - Harold Wimmer, 87, the former chairman of the board for Wimmer's Meat Products, died Sept. 3 at his home in West Point, Neb., according to The Associated Press. His family founded Wimmer's Meats.

Mr. Wimmer was general manager from 1947 to 1979 and chairman from 1979 to 2007. During that time, Wimmer's added three more brands -- Ambassador, Bassett's and Fairbury -- to its product line-up.

Mr. Wimmer served on the West Point City Council and several other organization boards.

He is survived by his wife, Dolores, two sons, two daughters and several grandchildren. Services are scheduled for Saturday in West Point.
