SPRINGDALE, Ark. – Family owned poultry processor George’s Inc. announced on Nov. 27 its acquisition of Campos Foods, an 85,000-sq.-ft. cooked meats facility located in Caryville, Tennessee. George’s officials made the deal for an undisclosed amount with Campos Foods’ parent company, Lopez Foods Inc., based in Oklahoma City.

The Campos operation employs about 285 workers and it produces fully cooked products, including pork, turkey and beef, for customers in the retail, foodservice and convenience store segments.

George’s operates two processing plants in Springdale as well as two facilities in Virginia and one in Missouri.

Twin brothers, Charles and Carl George, lead the family owned company as co-CEOs.

Charles says the acquisition made sense given the company’s plans for the future. “The addition of Campos Foods fits as part of our overall growth strategy and continued focus on adding value for our customers and stakeholders,” he said.

Carl George said the addition of Campos is a good fit for George’s. “The team at Campos Foods has a proven track record of producing premium protein products for a wide variety of customers,” he said. “We are excited to add their capabilities to our existing operations.”
