US Poultry
The grants are designed to attract more students to poultry-related programs at US colleges and universities.

TUCKER, Ga. – The USPOULTRY Foundation has awarded $282,000 in student recruiting grants to six US universities with Poultry Science departments and 29 other institutions with industry-related programs in an effort to attract more students to academic poultry programs and hopefully into the poultry industry after graduation. The grants were created from gifts to the USPOULTRY Foundation from companies, individuals and families, in addition to funds earned over the years at the International Poultry Expo, part of the International Production & Processing Expo.

“It is imperative that we strive to interest bright young people to study careers in the poultry industry. We need astute young managers to join our companies, as they will be the leaders of our industry tomorrow. USPOULTRY Foundation recruiting grants play a vital role in encouraging students to enroll in industry-related studies and in becoming future industry leaders of tomorrow,” said Paul Hill, West Liberty Foods, Ellsworth, Iowa, and USPOULTRY Foundation chairman.

In an effort to provide student recruiting funds to universities with poultry science departments, US Poultry & Egg Association established the USPOULTRY Foundation in 1994. Ten years later, the Poultry Science Education Funding Program, now named the Industry Education Recruitment Funding Program, was added so other colleges and universities that offer industry-related studies are eligible to apply for recruiting grants.
