TORONTO, ONTARIO — Since its debut nationally in Canada on Oct. 18, KFC’s Double Down bun-less sandwich has been an instant best-seller at KFC restaurants throughout the nation.

"Double Down is a monster success for KFC Canada and our customers," said Dan Howe, chief marketing officer, Yum! Restaurants Canada. "In fact, by Oct. 31, we will have sold more than 350,000 Double Down sandwiches in Canada — making Double Down our most successful new menu blockbuster ever."

KFC Canada said Alberta and Manitoba are ordering the most Double Downs in the country — at a slightly higher rate than other provinces.

The Double Down, which caused worldwide buzz when it debuted in the US, is the most successful sandwich in KFC history. More than 10 million were sold in the US in less than a month.

The KFC Canada Double Down features two pieces of seasoned Original Recipe boneless chicken, two pieces of bacon and processed Pepper Jack cheese — topped off with the Colonel's savory, secret sauce.

"Canadians begged KFC Canada to bring the Double Down North of the border and it's been our number one customer service request for months," said Howe, who adds that 64% of Canadians agreed KFC should bring the Double Down to Canada.

"For those who are watching their sodium and still crave KFC's 11 herbs and spices, we encourage them to try our classic Original Recipe chicken on-the-bone or our boneless Original Recipe chicken," he says.

To celebrate the Canadian launch of Double Down, KFC Canada has launched its first-ever Facebook fan page, loaded with more information to whet the appetite of Double Down fans. "Double Down is only here for two more weeks," Howe said. "Share your best Double Down stories on our KFC Facebook page and celebrate with other Canadians who have Taken Down the Double Down."

KFC represents more than 700 quick-service restaurants throughout Canada.
