The meat company hopes to have the project complete by early 2018.

COLUMBIA, Md. – Deli Brands of America, a subsidiary of Savel Foods Corp., began construction on a 19,000-sq.-ft. packaging plant and warehouse in Lansdowne, Maryland. The new operation will support two nearby facilities that produce deli meats, entrees and custom-cut steaks. The new plant is about 10 miles from the Deli Brands headquarters in Baltimore.

Construction of the plant is scheduled for completion in early 2018 and it will employ about 12 workers. Deli Brands sells to distributors, chain restaurants, retail foodservice and industrial food customers.

“As a producer of perishable products, it is critical to minimize travel times and make timely deliveries to our growing customer base throughout the mid-Atlantic region as well as national accounts throughout the United States," said Jeff Saval, president of Deli Brands, in a statement. “The highly developed transportation network servicing this building met our stringent criteria,” he said. “The building location is also convenient to our existing employees and provides us access to a highly skilled base to recruit new workers in the future.”
