Mankato, Minnesota, recently held the 8th Annual Mankato Marathon. But for those individuals with more modest goals — and hearty appetites — the annual event included the Pork Power 5K.

Beginning at the campus of Minnesota State Univ., the flat course featured bacon stops, t-shirts, pig finisher medals and snacks provided by the Minnesota Pork Producers Association.

This year’s Pork Power 5K included a total of 497 runners — 187 men and 310 women, according to the Mankato Marathon website. Matt Longen of Mankato won the men’s division and was the overall winner with a finisher time of 16:27. Jill Nolta of Plymouth, Minnesota, was the top female finisher with at time of 21:37.
