KANSAS CITY — Meat-stacked sandwiches are trending on menus, with several restaurants offering new handhelds featuring protein piled on protein.

Arby’s is pairing pepperoni and chicken on its new Chicken Pepperoni Parm. The sandwich features a crispy buttermilk chicken filet topped with pepperoni, mozzarella cheese and garlic marinara served on a star-cut bun.

Checkers and Rally’s restaurants are introducing Big Daddy Bacon sandwiches, featuring either a combination of beef and bacon or chicken and bacon. The Big Daddy Bacon Burger features two seasoned 100 percent beef patties topped with bacon, Swiss cheese, grilled onions, crispy onions, pickles and Thousand Island dressing on a sesame seed bun. The Big Daddy Bacon Chicken Sandwich features a crispy all-white meat chicken filet topped with bacon, Swiss cheese, grilled onions, crispy onions, pickles and Thousand Island dressing on a sesame seed bun.

Beef pairs with even more beef on Freddy’s Frozen Custard & Steakburgers’ new Jalapeño Pepper Jack Steakburger. The burger features two steakburger patties topped with pepper jack cheese, grilled jalapeños, crunchy onion rings and Freddy’s Jalapeño Fry Sauce served on a home-style bun.
