WASHINGTON – The US Dept. of Agriculture Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) announced on Aug. 30 the recall of approximately 32,228 lbs. of fully cooked chicken sausage products from Lynn, Massachusetts-based, Demakes Enterprises. The product was misbranded on the label and contained milk, a known allergen.

The buffalo-style chicken sausage item was produced and packaged between Jan. 20, 2017, and Aug. 10, 2017. The product subject to recall bears establishment number “P-8891” inside the USDA mark of inspection. These items were shipped to retail locations in Connecticut, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Ohio and Pennsylvania.

The specific products were: 10-oz. vacuum-sealed packages containing five pieces of “Thin ‘n Trim Fully Cooked Chicken Sausage Buffalo Style” and use by dates from May 17, 2017, and Dec. 6, 2017

FSIS Inspection Program personnel discovered the problem during routine label verification activities. There have been no confirmed reports of adverse reactions due to consumption of this product.
