The Colorado-based company says all meals will be gluten free.

BOULDER, Colo. – Green Chef Corp., a Boulder-based organic meal kit company, announced on Aug.22, it will be offering a ketogenic-friendly plan to appeal to customers who prefer low-carb meals. The company will begin shipping Keto boxes across the United States on Aug. 28.

Green Chef Keto is both dairy- and gluten-free, making it the company's third gluten-free offering (Gluten-Free, Paleo, and now Keto). The Green Chef Keto meal kits will fall into a range of 400-600 calories per serving.

Keto recipes include: crispy coconut-breaded chicken fingers with curry aioli, juicy pork chops seasoned with rosemary and mustard-caraway spices, and savory sole roulade served alongside bacon-roasted green beans.

“After much interest from customers about the keto diet, we decided to put the time, effort, and research into making this an option for them,” said Michael Joseph, Green Chef CEO and founder. “We have consulted with a number of nutritionists and chefs to create delicious meals that will fit into the keto lifestyle, and we are excited to be the first national meal kit company to provide this plan as an option.”

The Keto approach focuses on healthy fats by targeting food intake at 75 percent fat, 20 percent protein and 5 percent low-glycemic carbohydrates. These proportions are designed to help the body use ketones for energy instead of glucose, which enables the body to burn more fat.
