ARLINGTON, Va. – The American Trucking Association’s Agricultural and Food Transporters Conference (AFTC) and the American Frozen Food Institute (AFFI) recently launched an online assessment tool to help motor carriers evaluate their processes and procedures for complying with the Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA).

The tool generates a readiness report and highlights areas where action may be needed by food shippers, carriers, receivers and loaders to ensure compliance with FSMA. A listing of food safety, transportation, and logistics-related service providers is generated upon completion of the self-assessment.

“The changing regulatory environment can be a challenge for motor carriers,” Jon Samson, executive director of AFTC, said in a statement. “This tool can help fleets ensure they are complying with these rules related to the transportation of food.”

The tool, designed in partnership with Vienna, Virginia-based Seneca Corp., is available to purchase for $199 to ATA members and $495 for non-members.

The Agricultural and Food Transporters Conference is a national organization that represents motor carrier and allied members of the American Trucking Association on critical issues affecting agricultural commodity and food transportation.
