Perdue
SALISBURY, Md. – Randy Day, CEO of Perdue Farms, has joined Tyson Foods’ CEO Tom Hayes and 250 other CEOs in 70 industries representing all 50 states in signing the CEO Action for Diversity & Inclusion pledge, an effort focused on advancing diversity and inclusion in the workplace.

CEO Action for Diversity & Inclusion is recognized as the largest CEO-driven business commitment to advance diversity and inclusion within the workplace.

“Diversity can be measured by the numbers, but inclusion is a measure of our culture,” Day said. “An inclusive workplace empowers all associates to share the unique insights that match our external shareholders. Teamwork has long been one of our company values, with the belief that ‘we work together to accomplish something greater than one could alone.’ That ‘together’ will come from an inclusive workplace.”

Day and his fellow CEOs who have signed the pledge have agreed to the following actions:

  1. Continue to cultivate workplaces that support open dialogue on complex, and sometimes difficult, conversations about diversity and inclusion.
  2. Implement and expand unconscious bias education.
  3. Share best known – and successful – actions.

The 2017 CEO Action for Diversity & Inclusion Summit will take place Nov. 10 in New York. It will be an opportunity for all involved to come together to act on the commitments within the pledge, share best known actions, and develop additional commitments for advancing diversity and inclusion in the workplace.
