BLOOMINGTON, Minn. – Schwan’s Co. announced the acquisition of Better Baked Foods and Drayton Foods, both wholly owned subsidiaries of NE Foods Inc. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

North East, Pennsylvania-based Better Baked Foods makes pizza, French bread pizza and sandwich items for private-label and foodservice customers. The company offers products under the Better Baked Classics, Daybreak Classics, Papa Presto, Zap-A-Snack and Odyssey brands in retail stores. The business, includes Better Baked Foods of Erie LLC, and operates production facilities in the borough of North East, Erie, Pennsylvania; and Westfield, New York.

The acquisitions will bring the Papa Presto, Daybreak Classics and Two Sicily's brands into Schwan's Co.'s fold.
 
Drayton Foods is based at its production facility in Fargo, North Dakota. The company specializes in pizza crusts, dough balls, breadsticks and dinner rolls, and offers its Two Sicily’s brand in retail stores.

The acquisition of Better Baked Foods and Drayton Foods is the second in as many months for Schwan’s as the company works to increase its presence in the US pizza market. In June, the company announced the acquisition of Sidney, Ohio-based MaMa Rosa’s Pizza.
