The reigning champion Joey Chestnut defended his Mustard Belt by consuming 72 hot dogs.
 
CONEY ISLAND, NY – By devouring 72 hot dogs and buns in 10 minutes, professional eating champion Joey Chestnut defended his Mustard Belt at the 2017 Nathan’s Hot Dog Eating Contest, an event that draws thousands of spectators and even garners live coverage by ESPN. The victory is Chestnut’s 10thin the past 11 years. Chestnut’s accomplishment this year didn’t top his world record-setting 73 hot dogs consumed during the 2013 contest.  

Meanwhile, Miki Sudo was awarded the title in the women’s competition, by eating 41 hot dogs. This was Sudo’s fourth consecutive win at the annual event.

Jericho, New York-based Nathan’s Famous Inc. reports selling 600 million hot dogs this past year and revenues of $96.65 million in the fiscal year ended March 26, 2017.
