BLOOMINGTON, Minn. – Schwan’s Company, a leading provider of frozen foods, announced the company has reached an agreement to acquire Sydney, Ohio-based MaMa Rosa’s Pizza LLC from parent company HGGC, a private equity firm. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

MaMa Rosa’s manufactures foods for the foodservice industry in addition to retail stores where products are sold under the MaMa Rosa’s and Fight’n Tomato Pizza Co. pizza brands. The company employs approximately 250 people and operates a 160,000-sq.-ft. manufacturing facility in Sydney.

MaMa Rosa’s will become part of a world-class team that makes high-quality frozen foods for food-service, home delivery and retail outlets.”

Palo Alto, California-based HGGC was co-founded by former National Football League quarterback Steve Young.
