The items may be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes, CFIA reported.

OTTAWA – Foodservice distributor Deliwok, Chicoutimi, Quebec, Canada launched a recall of Deliwok Suprême brand Chicken Egg Rolls based on concerns the products are contaminated byListeria monocytogenes, the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) reported.

The products were sold from Costco Wholesale stores in the cities of Quebec and Lévis. CFIA said there have been no reported illnesses associated with the affected products, however, the agency is advising consumers to seek medical attention if they think they became sick from eating the egg rolls.

The affected products include Deliwok Suprême Chicken Egg Rolls sold in packages of 20 x 60g with a “Best Before” date of 17JN14 and a UPC of 6 21563 13579 6. CFIA is conducting a food safety investigation that could lead to additional product recalls.

CFIA noted that food contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes may not look or smell spoiled but can still cause illness. Symptoms of infection can include vomiting, nausea, persistent fever, muscle aches, severe headache and neck stiffness.

Pregnant women, the elderly and individuals with weakened immune systems are particularly at risk. Infected pregnant women may experience mild, flu-like symptoms, but the infection can lead to premature delivery, infection of the newborn or even stillbirth. In severe cases of illness, people may die.
