Brown was among 102 winners chosen in the United States, and one of three winners selected from Virginia. She received a $1,000 Sam’s Club gift card and an all-expenses paid trip to Dallas for training and mentoring from SCORE to grow her business.
The win put her in the running for one of three additional $25,000 grand prizes through the American Business Championship. Winners will be announced this summer.
In 2016, Brown was a student finalist in the inaugural Lion’s Lair Competition in which Old Dominion students and alumni pitched their ideas for a start-up company. She netted $3,000 for her efforts.
