The expanded space will handle more than 600 million lbs. of product each year.

GARNER, N.C. – Butterball LLC announced the recent expansion of the United States Cold Storage (USCS) facility in Warsaw, North Carolina, which will handle more than 600 million lbs. of Butterball product annually. The state-of-the-art facility serves as the company’s southeast distribution center.

United States Cold Storage is the third largest cold storage provider in the world. The original space opened in Warsaw in 1997 to store Carolina Turkeys before it acquired Butterball. Butterball has five other distribution centers throughout the US.

“The Warsaw storage expansion is no surprise given the need to meet a growing consumer demand,” said Butterball Senior Director of Logistics Daniel DiGrazio. “We’re all very excited to expand our growing relationship at a USCS facility that embraces deploying best-in-class warehouse management systems, yard management systems and several other attributes to maximize efficiencies.”

The storage facility expansion includes a newly constructed 145,000-sq.-ft. cold storage warehouse and distribution facility on 45 acres. The facility features 65-ft. refrigerated docks and convertible storage rooms, each with flexible storage temperature controls. The facility utilizes advanced CO2 refrigeration systems, LED lighting, surveillance systems for increased security, and cutting-edge fire suppression technology.

According to the company, United States Cold Storage is vital to Butterball’s rapid growth.
