Frork
The fast-food giant introduces the 'Frork' to accompany its signature sandwich line.

OAK BROOK, Ill. – To ensure diners don’t miss out on the new toppings accenting the national introduction of its Signature Crafted Recipes sandwich line, marketers with McDonald’s Corp. announced that on May 5, the newly topped sandwiches will be accompanied by a french fry enhanced fork at select locations. The “Frork” is “designed solely for scooping up the quality ingredients that may fall while eating a new Signature Crafted Recipes sandwich,” according to a release from the company. The sandwiches can be customized on a choice of hamburgers, grilled or crispy chicken with a choice of buns.

The company’s Signature Crafted Recipes sandwich toppings include Pico Guacamole, Sweet BBQ Bacon and Maple Bacon Dijon. The Frork is made of silicone with openings designed for customers to insert up to four french fries to be used as edible prongs. The company calls it “edible, utilitarian and desperately innovative.”

To promote the campaign, McDonald’s aired, for the first time, an infomercial, beginning on April 30 and subsequently posted it on its YouTube channel. Anthony Sullivan served as pitchman in the promotion.

“We started with All Day Breakfast, updated our Chicken McNuggets, offered new Mac sandwich sizes for every occasion and now we’re introducing Signature Crafted Recipes,” said McDonald’s Chef Michael Haracz. “And while the Frork is supremely superfluous, it shows that McDonald’s is willing to do whatever it takes to help them enjoy every last bite.”
