The fully cooked sausages will hit retailers in time for grilling season.

ST. CLOUD, Minn. — Pilgrim’s Pride Corp. plans to launch a new line of chicken sausages under its Gold’n Plump label in time for the beginning of grilling season. The fully cooked, ready-to-heat sausages will be available in five, restaurant-inspired flavors starting in April.

“Our research shows consumers seek ‘old world style’ sausages, and tend to choose chicken sausages with adventurous flavors,” said Tracy Miller, director of product innovation for the brand. “Gold’n Plump Fully Cooked Chicken Sausages were artisan made by our culinary experts who worked in our test kitchen to carefully explore and layer real ingredients to create these distinctive combinations.”

The five flavors include Bacon Gouda, Hickory Smoked Apple, Italian Cheese & Peppers, Jalapeño Cheddar and Spinach & Asiago.

The new fully cooked sausages will be coarse ground from boneless, skinless thigh meat from chicken raised without antibiotics. The sausages will also be free of monosodium glutamate (MSG), fillers, preservatives, nitrates and nitrites, gluten and artificial flavors and colors.

“We are particularly excited that our fully cooked chicken sausages launch in time for backyard barbecues. Grilling enthusiasts will love the convenience of our flavorful line,” Miller said.

Each 12-oz. package includes four, 3-oz. links and will be available for a suggested retail price of $5.99 per package.

The launch will be supported with recipes and product information on the Gold’n Plump website, and FacebookPinterest and Twitter
