Sales of bacon in the United Kingdom have fallen significantly on health concerns, according to published reports.

The Daily Mail reported that sales of bacon fell by £123 million in the wake of a World Health Organization report in October 2015 that claimed a link between some cancers and consumption of processed meats. Sales of sausages declined by £51 million.

By the end of October 2015, the WHO subsequently announced plans to reexamine the role of processed meats and red meat in a healthy diet. Still, a YouGov survey released in April this year found that 34 percent of respondents believed bacon could cause cancer, while 46 percent said bacon was “not good for your health.”
