GLOSTRUP, Denmark – High pathogenic avian influenza H5N8 has been found at a poultry farm in the town Ålsgårde, on the island of Zeeland in Denmark, according to the Danish Veterinary and Food Administration (DVFA). The farm has 35 ducks, 16 geese, 5 turkeys and 13 hens. So far, the disease has only been detected in the ducks.

No birds or eggs from the farm have been exported to other EU member states or countries. There are no commercial poultry facilities within the established protection and surveillance zone the DVFA set up around the farm.

The last case of bird flu in Denmark was in 2006. During that outbreak, Denmark lost about 200 million Danish crowns ($28.58 million) in export revenue, according to the DVFA.
