Hatchery report shows eggs in incubators increased 11 percent.
 

WASHINGTON – Turkey eggs in incubators on Nov. 1 totaled 27.8 million, an 11 percent increase from Nov. 1, 2015, the National Agricultural Statistics Service of the US Dept. of Agriculture said in its Turkey Hatchery report. Compared with Oct. 1, 2016, eggs in incubators declined 2 percent from 28.4 million eggs.

For October, turkey poults hatched advanced 14 percent to 23.56 million. This is a slight decrease from September, when poults hatched totaled 23.65 million.

Net poults placed for October totaled 21.8 million, up 8 percent compared with a year ago, and up 1 percent from the September total of 21.6 million, NASS reported.
