Original Johnsonville Bratwurst
Wisconsin, Michigan locations will include the item in the McPick 2 for $5 lineup.

MADISON, Wis. – McDonald’s restaurants in Wisconsin and parts of Michigan are adding Johnsonville brats to the McPick 2 for $5 offerings. The bratwursts are making a second appearance following a test run in early 2016.

The promotion started on Nov. 7. The Johnsonville brats are served on a brat bun with ketchup and mustard and will be featured as part of the 2 for $5 lineup for a limited time, McDonald’s said.

“We are thrilled to once again be a part of a Wisconsin food story by returning our namesake product to McDonald’s stores here in the state,” Sarah Babb, marketing manager for Johnsonville’s Foodservice business, said in a statement. “It was fun to see what a large hit the Johnsonville Brat was with McDonald’s customers earlier this spring, and we intend to deliver again in terms of taste and value for them.”

The inclusion of Johnsonville brats on McDonald’s menus began as a partnership of the quick-service chain and the National Football League’s Green Bay Packers. Returning the item to Wisconsin McDonald’s menus this month coincides with the height of football season.

“We really loved the idea of serving a menu item that our customers can get exclusively in this part of the country,” said Carrie Bennet-Barndt, owner of several McDonald’s restaurants in Wisconsin. “The timing lined up perfectly, and we couldn’t pass up the chance to serve brats during the fall weather — and during the football season.”
