Cudahy
Free of gluten or added nitrates and nitrites, the new product  from Patrick Cudahy is designed for the food enthusiasts of today.

CUDAHY, Wis. – Patrick Cudahy, a subsidiary of Smithfield Foods Inc., has introduced a new line of premium bacon to compete in this increasingly popular segment. Cudahy’s All Natural Uncured Black Forest Thick Cut Bacon is available in stack-packed, 20-oz. packages and is billed as gluten-free without any added nitrates, nitrites or artificial ingredients. It is currently available to select retailers in Wisconsin.

The company said in a press release that the latest offering is designed to appeal to “families and a new generation of food enthusiasts,” based on its slow-smoked process and even the “contemporary and stylish label” on each package.

Offering a bacon product with a cleaner label that is minimally processed was a priority for product developers, according to Bud Matthews, senior vice president of Smithfield Foods.

"Patrick Cudahy is always looking for innovative ways to make flavorful products, while carrying on the tradition of quality and value our consumers expect,” he said. "There is simply no replicating the look, feel, and texture of uncured, naturally smoked bacon, and we're excited to add this premium Black Forest bacon to our portfolio that we know our consumers will enjoy with their families and friends."
