Turkey Poults
 

WASHINGTON – Turkey eggs in incubators jumped 21 percent on Sept. 1, the National Agricultural Statistics Service (NASS) of the US Dept. of Agriculture reported. Poults hatched and poults placed were also higher in August, according to NASS.

Eggs in incubators totaled 28.8 million. Compared to August, eggs in incubators on Sept. 1 were down 1 percent from the Aug. 1 total of 29.0 million.

On Aug. 1, turkey poults hatched increased 11 percent to 24.5 million compared with a year ago, NASS reported, while poults hatched were down 1 percent from the July 1 total of 24.8 million poults.

Finally, net poults placed during August were 10 percent higher at 24.2 million compared with last year, according to NASS. Net placement eased 1 percent from the July 2016 total of 24.4 million.
