Pizza Nova aims to use antibiotic-free bacon, chicken and ham for its toppings.

Pizza Nova, a fast-casual chain based in Toronto, Ontario, recently became the first Canadian pizza company to use bacon made from pork raised without antibiotics.

“There is a definite shift occurring in the food industry,” Domenic Primucci, president of Pizza Nova, said in a statement. “Consumers are paying closer attention to what processes and ingredients go into their food, and people expect better, as they should.”

Pizza Nova became the first to offer pepperoni sourced from pigs raised without antibiotics. The company also committed to sourcing chicken and ham from animals raised without antibiotics by the end of 2016.
