ST. CLOUD, Minn. – GNP Co.’s Gold’n Plump brand is adding new chicken meatballs and sliced chicken sausage to its product lineup. Both products are made from boneless, skinless thigh meat and are fully cooked and sold frozen. The company will begin shipping the products to retailers by mid-October.

Both products can be prepared in 20 minutes. They are packaged in resealable, zip-top bags which feature serving suggestions and easy-to-follow cooking instructions. The products can be cooked in the microwave and slow cooker or on the stovetop.

“Research shows that 28 percent of consumers are preparing more meals in less than 20 minutes than they did five years ago,” said Tracy Miller, GNP Co.’s director of Product Innovation. “Meatballs are universally loved and a staple for nearly every culture, while sausages are being considered the new bacon. Both products offer what today’s consumers, millennials especially, are looking for: better, healthier ingredients; bold not boring flavor; leaner protein; and convenient preparation with the taste and texture of handmade.”

The Gold’n Plump Chicken Meatballs are oven-roasted and come in two flavors: Homestyle, which is made with American-style breadcrumbs, rosemary and low-sodium chicken broth; and Pesto Italian, which is made with Romano, Parmesan and aged Asiago cheeses and roasted garlic.

The Gold’n Plump Sliced Chicken Sausages also come in two flavors: Italian Cheese & Peppers, containing aged Parmesan and Asiago cheeses, red and green peppers and paprika; and Hickory Smoked, which is made with brown sugar, rosemary and hickory smoke flavor. The sausages are coarse ground, and contain 60 percent less fat than pork sausage.

“For a homemade-like experience, there are no binders, meat substitutes, fillers, preservatives, added hormones, MSG, nitrites, nitrates, artificial flavors or colors in Gold’n Plump chicken meatballs or sliced sausages,” Miller said. “Also, we are one of the few brands to enter the frozen category with a ‘chicken raised with no antibiotics – ever’ attribute, and the only chicken product in the category to feature the American Humane Certified farm program seal.”

The 18-oz. bags of meatballs and sausage have a suggested retail price of $6.99. GNP Co. plans to launch the products with print, radio, outdoor and digital advertising, in-store demos, on-pack coupons and social media promotion.

The GNP Co. is a subsidiary of The Maschhoffs, LLC, based in Carlyle, Illinois.
