CHARLOTTE, NC – Compass Group North America, along with its UK-based subsidiary, Compass Group PLC, announced plans to expand its commitment to sourcing 100 percent of its eggs from cage-free suppliers by 2025. The global foodservice supplier, support and management company, which reported revenues of $14.5 billion in 2015, began the cage-free campaign about seven years ago.

With operations in 50,000-plus locations throughout 50 countries, Compass’ companies include Bon Appétit Management Company and Restaurant Associates with partnerships at US foodservice chains such as Chick-fil-A, Smashburger and Dunkin’ Donuts. Its 100 percent cage-free commitment includes both shelled and liquid eggs.

“Improving the welfare of farm animals is a key focus for our business and we've supported the sourcing of cage free eggs since 2009,” said Nicki Crayfourd, director of group health, safety and environment with Compass Group PLC.

Crayfourd went on to acknowledge some of the interest groups supporting the action.

“This commitment marks the next step in our journey and we look forward to continuing to work with partners such as Compassion in World Farming, Humane Society International and The Humane League who provide invaluable support and guidance,” she said.
