WASHINGTON – The US Dept. of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection service (FSIS) announced the recall of 18,672 lbs. of sausage products produced by Decatur, Alabama-based WFSP Foods LLC. WFSP is a joint venture between Wayne Farms and Salm Partners.

The sausage contains milk that is not declared on the product label.

The ready-to-eat sausage items were produced on June 7, 2016. The following product is subject to recall:

  • 13.5-oz. packages containing “Land O’ Frost Simply Savory Bacon & Cheddar Smoked Sausage” with a “BEST BY: DEC. 04 2016” and packaging date of 06/07/16.

The product subject to recall bears establishment number “EST. 45411” printed on the packaging. This item was shipped to retail locations nationwide.

A company representative discovered the problem of the undeclared allergens and reported the issue to FSIS. The front of the product contains a statement saying it contains cheese, however, the product label on the back fails to include cheese as an ingredient. Because cheese was not listed on the ingredients label, milk is not listed in the “contains” allergen declaration.

There have been no reports of adverse reactions to the product.

When available, the retail distribution list will be posted on the FSIS website at www.fsis.usda.gov/recalls.
