LISLE, Ill. –  Nathan’s Famous is known for the annual Fourth of July hot dog eating contest, but this time, the company will rely on more than one person to take down another hot dog record.

Nathan’s will attempt to break the Guinness World Record for the world’s longest line of hot dogs on Sept. 2 at Grand Central Terminal. The company will line up 1,916 hot dogs, more than 950 ft. in length, to break the standing record of around 846 ft. set in Tokyo, Japan, in 2014.

“Nathan’s already stands out in the minds of consumers as the world’s leading premium hot dog,” said Nathan’s Executive Vice President Scott Harvey. “Setting another hot dog world record is the perfect way to kick off the Labor Day grilling weekend on our anniversary year.”

The line of Nathan’s hot dogs will spell out “100”, a reference to the 100th anniversary of the Coney Island hot dog brand which was founded in 1916.

The original store still operates in the same location on Coney Island in Brooklyn. Nathan’s also has 53,000 retail foodservice locations and are available in 50 states and 10 foreign countries.

Nathan’s Famous will give away hot dogs to audience members and spectators following the attempt. Joey Chestnut, the reigning hot dog-eating world champion, will also be on hand to witness the festivities.
