Egg-Land's Best
Cal-Maine will acquire the Egg-Land’s Best, Inc. licensing franchise in certain markets.
 

JACKSON, Miss. – Cal-Maine Foods, Inc., the largest producer and distributor of fresh shell eggs in the United States, announced plans to acquire substantially all assets of Foodonics International Inc., including related entities doing business as Dixie Egg Company. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed, but Cal-Maine expects to close the transaction in early October.

If successful, Cal-Maine would own commercial egg production and processing facilities with the capacity for approximately 1.6 million laying hens, related feed production, milling and distribution facilities in Georgia, Alabama and Florida. Dixie Egg also has contract arrangements for an additional 1.5 million laying hens.

Additionally, Cal-Maine will acquire the Egg-Land’s Best, Inc. licensing franchise including portions of certain markets in Alabama, Florida and Georgia as well as Puerto Rico, the Bahamas and Cuba.

Jackson, Mississippi-based Cal-Maine Foods currently sells the majority of its shell eggs across the southwestern, southeastern, mid-western and mid-Atlantic regions of the US.
