SALISBURY, Md. – Perdue Farms plans to move the company’s training center to a new 5,000-sq.-ft. space in downtown Salisbury.

The new center will feature a combination of training and community meeting spaces equipped with smart boards and modern audio-visual equipment. A bigger training room will accommodate up to 100 individuals, while two additional classroom-style spaces will hold 30 to 40 people in each space. The design plan also includes a small kitchen and storage space.

“We’re excited about our move downtown and the opportunity to be part of the city’s revitalization,” Kathryn Danko-Lord, director of talent management and organizational development, said in a statement. “At Perdue, we recognize that our success depends upon our associates, and our investment in the new Perdue Learning Center is an investment in their growth and our company’s future as we prepare to enter our second century.

“We’ll bring associates from across the country at every level of management to the Learning Center to develop their professional and personal skills to help them be successful in their careers,” she added.

Work on the training center is expected to be completed within 90 days. Salisbury Mayor Jake Day said the new center will continue Perdue’s record of attracting business to the local economy.

“For more than three generations, Perdue has been a cornerstone of our community — they’ve employed thousands and brought millions of dollars home to Maryland’s Eastern Shore,” Day said in a statement. “Through years of growth and expansion, Perdue’s headquarters of operation has remained right here in Salisbury, and the company’s well-known, decades-long commitment to its hometown is as strong now as ever before.”
