The SmartLabel initiative helps consumers learn more about the foods they buy while enabling food companies to be transparent about ingredients and other processes.

Naked Bacon is participating in the SmartLabel initiative, which enables companies to provide consumers with extended product information. Naked Bacon manufactures nitrate- and phosphate-free bacon in small batches. The company’s target consumer follows a gluten-free and low-sugar diet.

“Our customers buy our products because of what we stand for, both in terms of what our products are about and their flavor profiles,” said John Kreilich, president and founder of Naked Bacon.

“Consumers appreciate that our bacon is made in small batches with all-natural ingredients. Providing complete transparency to current and potential consumers through the SmartLabel initiative will truly distinguish us from competitors by offering consumers a look into our products beyond the physical package label in a quick and easy to use digital format.”

The Trading Partner Alliance developed SmartLabel to help consumers learn more about the foods they buy while enabling food companies to bring transparency to their manufacturing processes. SmartLabel digitally houses nutritional information, ingredients, allergens, third-party certifications and other information.

“SmartLabel allows us to provide customers with extended product information such as where ingredients are sourced, how the manufacturing process works, and what certifications the company and our products have earned,”Kreilich said. “For Naked Bacon, participating in SmartLabel was an easy decision. Onboarding products into SmartLabel was incredibly seamless, and the platform will be a big differentiator for us moving forward.”

Naked Bacon also makes Naked Links Sugar Free Breakfast Sausage. The company’s products come in a variety of bacon flavors including Naked Bacon Original, Sugar Free, Jalapeño and Chipotle.
