PLANO, Texas – Pizza Hut and tech company Conversable announced the launch of “chatbot,” a social media ordering platform through Facebook Messenger and Twitter. The platform allows for conversational ordering and will be available this fall across Pizza Hut’s social media accounts. It will debut at the 2016 Venturebeat MobileBeat Conference in San Francisco with a demo by Baron Concors, chief digital officer, Pizza Hut.

"The new Pizza Hut social ordering platform is another example of making it easy for our customer to order their favorites from Pizza Hut," Concors said. "We are constantly pursuing ways to simplify our ordering experience. This platform allows our consumers to quickly order or get information where they are already spending a great deal of their time."

The service will allow customers to get answers to frequently asked questions, receive the latest deals and promotions, reorder favorites or saved orders from any US Pizza Hut by chatting with the company’s social media accounts.

Pizza Hut’s decision to strengthen communications with its customers on social media came from the desire to focus on personalized service and engagement on an already heavily used platform.

"We are committed to servicing our customers in the most convenient way and meeting them in the channels they already prefer," Concors said. "This launch reinforces our goal of being the most customer-centered pizza company with an emphasis on the simplification and personalization of our digital experience."

There will be no extra cost for users to connect Facebook Messenger or Twitter to their Pizza Hut account. Promotions and menus will be specific to each restaurant. Pizza Hut will email receipts and send confirmation messages in the messenger conversation. Picking up orders will be done in the traditional way.

"We could not be more excited to demo and launch this new Pizza Hut social ordering experience," said Ben Lamm, CEO and co-founder, Conversable. "Giving instant, conversational access to Pizza Hut lovers in all social channels is pretty amazing and powerful. By enabling those customers to find deals and reorder their favorites all without leaving their messaging channels versus stopping what they are doing and going to download an app is incredibly seamless."
