RIVERVIEW, Mich. – A new Tubby’s Grilled Subs will have its grand opening June 23 in Riverview, as well as debut the company’s new pizza line. Tubby’s Pizza Company’s Philly Cheesesteak Pizza matches the ingredients of the sub shop’s Philly Cheesesteak sub. Other matching items include Tubby’s Smokin’ BBQ Chicken Pizza and an Everything Pizza.

"We've wanted to have a pizza offering for some time but we wanted to make sure we got it right," said Tubby's CEO Robert Paganes in a statement. "We think we're ready now with a full line of mouth-watering pizzas that will complement our sub sandwiches and give our franchisees a broader lineup of choices for their customers."

According to Paganes, the new, corporate Riverview store is ideal for showcasing the new pizzas before release at select franchises throughout Southeast Michigan.

"This is why we're opening this corporate store in the first place," Paganes said, "to get us closer to our retail customers and test new products and processes with real people.  We're confident our pizzas are going to be an immediate hit but our experience here in Riverview will give us real answers and allow us to make any necessary tweaks before we offer our pizza products to our franchisees system-wide."

Tubby’s will offer a build your own pizza option in addition to the nine new specialty pizzas. Pizza sizes range from single slices up to an extra-large with pricing from $1.75 up to $39 for a party-size specialty pizza. A two slice plus drink offer will be priced at $4.72 plus tax, making the deal an even $5 total.

At shops with a drive-thru, patrons will be able to order slices, making Tubby’s one of few fast casual restaurants to offer pizza by the slice at the drive thru window.

"We're very excited about this new pizza line. It will appeal to individual walk-in or drive-thru customers but will also broaden our catering options and help us to take care of just about any party needs with a more complete product line," said Bill Kiryakoza, executive vice president at Tubby's.  "It will make Tubby's more of a 'go to' place than ever for quality casual foods."
