MONETT, Mo. - A Tyson Foods poultry processing plant was shut down on June 6 after an arcing power line set off a chain reaction that resulted in a destroyed transformer and a suspension of plant operations until June 7.

According to The Monett Times report, electricians worked through the night to run wiring to the transformer. The Tyson workers and city personnel connected the primary line to the facility at approximately 7:30 a.m.

Gary Mickelson, spokesman for Tyson said first shift workers were sent home on June 6 and the second shift was suspended as was the first shift on June 7. The report said the plant planned to resume operations the afternoon of June 7 and that no injuries were reported.
