GLENDALE HEIGHTS, Ill. – Kronos Foods, a manufacturer of Mediterranean fare, will introduce KronoBroil, which is flame-cooked and sliced gyros meat, at the upcoming National Restaurant Association Show.

Kronos starts with 500 lb. versions of seasoned meat cones that are available in smaller sizes at restaurants. The meat is seared, and a series of automated laser-guided knives respond to temperature cues to determine when the outer layer is ready for carving which results in meat slices of varying sizes — much like hand-sliced gyros meats.

“The genuine gyros taste experience is a direct result of meat that has been seared to sizzling perfection on a rotating vertical broiler, and nothing truly matches that exact texture and taste unless it is sliced directly from the cone,” Kronos CEO Howard Eirinberg said in a news release. “Our new high-tech robotic production process provides authentic quality gyros slices that are virtually identical to the color, flavor and texture that consumers have come to love and crave.”

Kronos manufactures and distributes its products nationally through foodservice channels and major retailers.
