SILER CITY, NC – Mountaire Farms Inc. has acquired a former poultry processing plant and an adjoining property formerly owned by Townsend. The company plans an immediate renovation of the facility which is located in Siler City.

“Mountaire supplies products to market distribution channels in retail, wholesale, food service, and export,” Phillip Pylar, executive vice president of sales and operations, said in a statement. “The demand for our products requires organized and planned growth and we believe this is a great opportunity to better service our customers.”

The company has big plans for its Siler City operations. In addition to renovating the processing plant, the company intends to expand a recently acquired hatchery, and a search is underway for a location to build a feed mill.
