SPRINGDALE, Ark. – Tyson Foods Inc. announced Monica McGurk has been named the company’s senior vice president of strategy and new ventures. In her new role, McGurk will manage Tyson’s strategic planning and growth efforts. She will report to CEO Donnie Smith.

McGurk most recently worked for the Coca-Cola Company as senior vice president of strategy, decision support and e-commerce in the company’s North American Group. Before joining Coca-Cola, she spent 19 years at McKinsey & Company, a leading management consulting firm where she specialized in consumer and retail sectors, founded the company’s consumer innovation practice and led its consumer organization practice.

“Monica is a great fit for our company,” Smith said in a statement. “She comes to us as the result of a long career of proven performance in strategic roles, and we believe her extensive experience will help us continue to grow as a value-added food company.”

McGurk holds a master’s of Business Administration from Stanford Univ.
