Applegate recalled its chicken nuggets in several states.

WASHINGTON – The US Dept. of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) announced the recall of more than 4,500 lbs. of Perdue Foods chicken nuggets produced for Applegate Farms in its Gainesville, Georgia, facility. The product may be contaminated with extraneous plastic materials.

The problem was discovered as a result of a customer complaining about finding small, solid, clear plastic inside the Applegate Naturals Chicken Nuggets. However, there have been no confirmed reports of adverse reactions due to the consumption of the products.

The products subject to recall are the Applegate Naturals Chicken Nuggets produced on Sept. 28, 2015. Specifically:

  • 8-oz. boxed packages containing approximately 18 pieces of “Applegate Naturals Chicken Nuggets” with Best Before Date Sept. 27, 2016.

The products feature the establishment number “P-2617” inside the USDA mark of inspection. These nuggets were shipped to retail distribution centers in Florida, Georgia, Indiana, Massachusetts, Pennsylvania, New York, and Texas.
