WASHINGTON — Huntington Meat Packing Inc., Montebello, Calif., is recalling approximately 864,000 lbs. of beef products that may be contaminated with E. coli O157:H7, the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Food Safety and Inspection Service (F.S.I.S.) announced on Jan. 18.

The problem was discovered during a food safety assessment (F.S.A.) by F.S.I.S. personnel. The F.S.A. led to the decision a further investigation of establishment records was warranted. The investigation is ongoing and the following products are subject to recall.

The products were produced between Feb. 19, 2008, and May 15, 2008, and were shipped to distribution centers, restaurants, and hotels within the California,

While these products are normally used fresh, the company is taking this action in case some products may still be frozen and in commerce.

F.S.I.S. has received no reports of illnesses associated with consumption of these recalled products.
