WACO, Texas – A man is suing Cargill Meat Solutions for negligence. Joshua Blancett claims he ate and later "expelled" ground turkey produced by CMS that contained sharp bone fragments and caused him stomach pain for a week. Blancett claims Cargill acted negligently and failed to warn him of any defect in the ground turkey meat, which he purchased from a local Walmart.
In a statement to MEAT+POULTRY, Mike Martin, a spokesman for the company, said "We are investigating this allegation and thus far have found nothing to support it, nor are we aware of similar complaints by other consumers."
Blancett's lawsuit was moved to the US District Court for the Western District of Texas from a state court on Feb. 4. Dallas law firm McKey & Sanchez is representing Joshua Blancett.
The Underwood Law Firm, Amarillo, Texas, is representing CMS. Cargill denied all the claims in Blancett's complaint and asked for costs, attorney's fees and any other relief the company may be entitled to.
The case is Blancett v. Cargill Meat Solutions, Corp.
