Gold'n Plump bacon-gouda chicken sausage
Gold'n Plump's latest creation: artisan chicken sausages.

ST. CLOUD, Minn. – GNP Company announced it will debut a new line of fully cooked artisan chicken sausages under the Gold’n Plump brand in May.

The sausages will be available in the refrigerated section of grocery stores, GNP noted. Flavors will include Jalapeño Cheddar; Italian Cheese & Peppers; Spinach & Asiago; Hickory Smoked Apple and Bacon Gouda.

“In the development of these sausages, our culinary experts worked in our test kitchen to carefully combine and layer flavors to satisfy consumers seeking sausages with distinctive combinations,” explained Sara Danforth, the new product development manager at GNP Company. “Consumers in our taste tests loved the flavors as well as the texture.”

Each link contains 14 to 15 grams of protein and has up to 76 percent less fat than pork sausages. The product comes vacuum-packed in 12-oz. packages that include four, 3-oz. links. The suggested retail price is $5.99.

“Refrigerated dinner sausages are a high growth category, and consumers are looking for products offering leaner protein and adventurous flavors,” Danforth said. “We see a significant opportunity for consumer demand for our new chicken sausage line.”

GNP plans to support the product launch via the Gold’n Plump website and social media platforms. Digital, mobile and radio ads also will promote the product lineup, in addition to point-of-sale shelf-talker materials, product demos and coupons in select markets.
