Dunkin’ Donuts is taking the bacon craze to a new level. According to a report, the Canton, Mass., company is working on a new breakfast sandwich featuring bacon-stuffed sausage.
Appropriately called the Bacon Lover’s Sausage Breakfast Sandwich, the new item features a split sausage link infused with pieces of bacon inside, served with egg and a slice of American cheese on a toasted English Muffin.
According to the website, www.brandeating.com, a daily fast-food news and review blog, the Bacon Lover’s Sausage Breakfast Sandwich was slated for a local test in late September at an unspecified location. A blogger for the site recently tested the sandwich at a media event held by Dunkin’ Donuts and said the sandwich is “beyond the classic breakfast sandwich elements, the bacon sausage was really tasty with an extra smoky, savory element from the bacon. They might still be testing but the general feeling I got was that it will definitely be a national release in the future (I would guess sometime next year).”
