DUKEDOM, Tenn. – The owners of T&S Poultry Farms have been charged with animal cruelty, the Associated Press reported. Thomas Blassingame and Suzanne Blassingame were charged with one count each of animal cruelty which is a misdemeanor under Tennessee law.

The charges stem from a video that was taken by a member of Mercy For Animals. The video appeared to show the owners clubbing birds and other abuses. The video was taken during a four-week period in July and August.

T&S was a poultry supplier to McDonald’s Corp. and a contract grower for Tyson Foods Inc. Both companies severed business ties with the company following the release of the video.
