SAN FRANCISCO – OpenTable, a leading provider of online restaurant reservations, tapped its pool of users who fancy themselves foodies to compile a list of 100 restaurants that appeal to discerning diners. From Aatxe in San Francisco to ZZest Market & Café in Rochester, Minn., “The 100 Best Restaurants for Foodies in America” is the result of more than five million restaurant reviews submitted by verified OpenTable users.

Restaurants serving American cuisine dominated the list. But restaurants reflecting mashups of Asian, Basque, French, Israeli, Mexican, Middle Eastern, and Scandinavian cuisines also resonated with diners.

“This year’s honorees are where the culinary magic happens, where the rules of fine dining are being rewritten,” Caroline Potter, OpenTable chief dining officer, said. “Whether they're reviving forgotten cooking techniques, championing the latest sustainable ingredient, or creating unexpectedly delicious and unique flavor pairings, these restaurants are where you can truly wow the foodies in your life.”

New York led the list with the most winning restaurants (12), followed by California, Texas, Minnesota and Oregon. New restaurants proved most popular among OpenTable reviewers, with a quarter of the restaurants opening in 2015, while a majority of the restaurants listed were founded within the last five years.
