NEW YORK – Shake Shack has taken bacon and burgers to a new level with its limited-edition Roadside Shack. The 100 percent all-natural Angus beef cheeseburger is not topped with bacon, but its caramelized onions which top the burger are simmered in beer and bacon.

“The beer and bacon caramelized onions bring out even more depth of flavor and juiciness to our delicious flat-top griddled burgers,” said Mark Rosati, culinary director of Shake Shack, the New York-based burger chain.

Shake Shack said its Roadside Shack (single $6.19; double $8.99) pays homage to “the many traditional US roadside burger stands of yore that dot our highways.”

The Roadside Shack, which debuted in late July, is available at all locations in the US, excluding stadiums, for a limited time.
