WASHINGTON – Chicago-based Pleasant House Bakery LLC is recalling an undetermined amount of steak and chicken pie products that were distributed to restaurants and retail establishments in Chicago and New Buffalo, Mich., without the benefit of inspection. The US Dept. of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) also determined the products were missing the ingredient statement and contained undeclared allergens, including eggs, milk and wheat.

The steak and chicken pie products subject to recall include:

• 10-oz. of individually wrapped product labeled “Steak & Ale Pie.”
• 10-oz. of individually wrapped product labeled “Chicken Balti Pie.”

The products were produced between Jan. 1, 2014, and Aug. 14, 2015. The problems were discovered when an FSIS employee determined that product was being sold in a retail establishment in the Chicago area.

The FSIS and the company have received no reports of adverse reactions due to consumption of these products.
